There is a back porch in the High Country of North Carolina that calls to me. Facing north over the Watauga River and Watauga County, the mornings are different there. At almost a mile up in elevation, the summers aren’t oppressive. If anything they tend to be on the cool side.
As a matter of fact, to get there you have to drive thru a community known as Cold Springs. I’ve often wondered if it was named for the local mountain springs or if they were talking about their weather in spring. It’s an unofficial name applied to a mountain group of families that always brings a smile to me as I pass thru.

The cabin has a name. It is called Mountain Masterpeace. And the name is a great description of the feeling that comes over you there… Peace.
