Hurricane Delta is about to emerge into the southern Gulf of Mexico

from the Yucatan Peninsula. The environment in the Gulf is expected
to be conducive for strengthening, and the storm should pick up
some strength over the next couple of days as it makes its way towards
the US Gulf Coast. Beyond that, cooler waters and an increase in
shear are expected to cause the storm to weaken, but perhaps more
importantly for Southeast Texas, it will likely cause the wind field
to expand, and has prompted a tropical storm watch for the southeastern
corner of our area.
