It’s Been Awhile Since I’ve Been Here…

I find myself drifting back into my thoughts and beliefs from the early 2000’s. And I can’t justify in my mind the dichotomy of what people claim as guiding principles and the reality of their actions and words.

And for one of the few times in decades I find myself tending to agree with something David Brooks has to say. That in and of itself is a bit disconcerting… Because, I usually find Mr. Brooks’ apologetic spin on the Republican Party’s actions off putting. But on this I can agree…

There’s a question that’s been bugging me for nearly a decade. How is it that half of America looks at Donald Trump and doesn’t find him morally repellent? He lies, cheats, steals, betrays, and behaves cruelly and corruptly, and more than 70 million Americans find him, at the very least, morally acceptable. Some even see him as heroic, admirable, and wonderful. What has brought us to this state of moral numbness?

When this year began, I tried to bite my tongue and keep from being controversial in my local community. No matter how much I disagreed with what was happening in America, I was keeping my opinion to my self and only sharing it among my family.
