SITUATION OVERVIEW

Hurricane Laura has weakened slightly as it moves northward through Louisiana, but
remains a very dangerous hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 120 MPH. In
southwestern Louisiana, unsurvivable storm surge, widespread damaging winds, and
flash flooding is currently ongoing and will continue through the morning. Tropical
storm force winds are possible across the extreme eastern portions of our area, mainly
in Polk, Liberty, and eastern San Jacinto counties. Minor coastal flooding continues
across the Bolivar Peninsula and around Galveston Bay. Laura will continue to
move northward through the day today while rapidly weakening.
